11.28.2011
Congressman Lankford discussed critical issues facing the nation and Tulsa during his address at the Tulsa Metro Chamber’s third congressional forum, presented by Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. on Monday, Nov. 28 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Tulsa Downtown. Congressman Lankford represents Oklahoma’s fifth district and was first elected to the United States Congress on Nov. 2, 2010.

He focused on the nation’s severe debt, stating trimming the debt needs to be the primary focus of Congress. Rep. Lankford also highlighted the need for tax reform, stressing it will help businesses expand and hire more employees. He stated he is dedicated to freeing up business to grow and add jobs to the sagging economy.

He noted these changes will take time, stating “the system was built to go slow, however we are trying to do too many things at once.”

Rep. Lankford serves on the Budget, Transportation & Infrastructure, and Oversight & Government Reform committees, where he is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Technology, Information Policy, Intergovernmental Relations and Procurement Reform. He has earned the respect of his colleagues on budget issues and has been called an emerging leader in fighting government regulations from the EPA on the energy industry to the impact of regulations on banks and financial institutions.
